Word around the Web, one-hand worthy edition

Remember when you first, first started typing and you only used your forefingers and it took forever? It felt like ages, even more so when you learned (through ICQ, natch) to use more fingers?

Still, here’s a round up of one hand-worthy news:

Ontario may follow NS, Quebec, and NFLD and ban cell phone use while driving. The Ontario Medical Association says the attention-diverting is on par risk-wise with drinking and driving. Maybe the 19-yr old schmo who hit us was on his iPhone – The Globe

Mad Lips for the job/career crew – JibberJobber blog

A tale of two successful women means they can never be friends. Daily Beast’s Tina Brown and HuffPo’s Arianna Huffington say they’ve built their careers with each other’s support. Men everywhere say, yeah f$cking right. They say, no for serious. That, and we want to be better than every single one of you – NYT

Abbrevs are fun 4 1 ‘n all but lose the half speak when sending a cover letter, especially if one of the job requirements is that you have strong communication skills – Good to Know

3 reasons not to be lazy, have low expectations, little commitment to the job you actually want, and generally should not be applying for just any job – Movin on Up

A new study shows that job-seekers prefer Obama in a big way…it matches all the other studies that show so does everyone else – Career Waymark

Don’t you hate that you lose your signal in the subway/bad reception area, which is generally the time you want to write long-overdue replies to emails? Being the clairvoyant crew they are, Gmail’s smarty pants programmers have created an app to let you write emails even when you’re offline. In some parts of the world they call this Voodoo, but in Googleland they call it, kicking Yahoo’s ass – Google Blog
